Topic - Cybersecurity and Privacy: Wandering a Flattened Earth

In the digital age, we can form more connections and relationships than ever before. We can instantly communicate with friends in other countries, stream an endless library of media, and stay distracted endlessly. Our society now depends on information systems to handle everything from operating autonomous tractors to making toast. These great opportunities have also brought even bigger challenges. It is easier for relationships to become shallow and superficial. Being flooded with information makes it much harder to discern the truth. Instead of bringing us closer, cyberspace often divides us further, and believers are definitely not exempt. Restoring broken relationships and maintaining unity are core themes throughout Torah, from Cain and Abel to Korah’s rebellion. This month’s talk will provide an overview of what cybersecurity is and discuss how to apply cybersecurity lessons to preserve unity and restore relationships.

Speaker - Ariel Huckabay

Ariel Huckabay has been a member of the UMJC Young Adult Committee for over a year. He has been working in the field of cybersecurity for the past 9 years. He completed his education at the University of Colorado and currently resides in the DC area, serving in a local Messianic Congregation. He has been there with his wife of three years, Rhemi, along with a Papillon dog that they share.
